About
King’s College London
I am based at the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre, King’s College London. I launched my own research group in 2024 after securing an MRC Career Development Award.
Our research is focused on examining male and female depression separately as well as identifying the differences between the sexes. This research encompasses analyses of genetics, polygenic scores, DNA methylation, proteomics, and metabolomics to improve our understanding of the disorder.
University of Edinburgh
I undertook a postdoctoral position in the Division of Psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh in 2015. I was part of the excellent research team led by Prof. Andrew McIntosh.
During this postdoc, I conducted two of the largest genetic studies of depression. This research greatly increases our understanding of the aetiology underlying depression through improved prediction accuracy of causal genetic effects. A number of novel genetic correlations were identified along with causal relationships of depression with neuroticism and coronary artery disease.
The Roslin Institute
I completed my Ph.D. at the Roslin Institute in 2015 with Prof. John Woolliams.
My thesis focused on applying quantitative genetic analyses within livestock breeding and provided me with a solid grounding in statistics, methodology and genetics, exposing me to cutting-edge techniques for analysing large-scale genetic data.
